One square meter can contain up to 6 small units (fit for 1.5 – 8 L pots) or 2 large units (fit for 10 – 40 L pots).
Yes. As reported for example in Sade et al., 2009 in Tomatoes and Attia et al., 2015 in Poplars. The key to good correlation (e.g. yield prediction) is based on the proper experiment scenario design i.e. drought scenarios (short, long and terminal), where each of those stresses will lead to totally different results. For further details, see Negin et al 2016.
Utilizing an accurate irrigation system (valves and drippers), the Plantarray can dose the precise amount of water to preserve the desired drought stage, based on the soil water content calculation or soil sensor. Control over irrigation is automated, based on the experiment scenario setup, and in real time.
Plantarray can control many soil borne stress, drought, salinity, nutrients (excess, deficiency), chemicals (pesticides) and floods. Moreover, the system can accurately apply multiple stress scenarios, such as the combination of drought and salinity or biostimulants and drought.
Yes, Plantarray’s SPAC analytic software and its advance modules are easy to use and operate; our experts can help with a variety of issues from data analysis, experiment planning to designing a tailor made application. Please contact us for further details.
The Plantarray system can fit most greenhouse/growth space with minor setup costs. The requirements are levelled benches/floor connected to a drainage system, 110/220V outlet, and a minimum water supply ∼4 atm. see installation process of 216 units here.
Yes, please contact us for further details.
The system's operation and maintenance is straightforward. Thus, the system operators do not need special technical background and skills
The system can automatically apply several different chemical treatments (e.g. NaCl, biostimulants, etc.) Each treatment can be mixed to reach any concentration (using our two taps system, mixing the highest treatment concentration with the non-treatment concentration is possible for each pot separately). Consequently, a concentration gradient for each treatment is possible.
There is no limitation for plant species. To date we have tried hundreds of types of plants (from Arabidopsis thaliana to eucalyptus seedlings). Note that if your plant is too small, you may need to put several together in each pot.
Generally yes, but you must ensure your load cells lysimeters (gravimetric system) transducers are compatible with the Plantarray system and meet the Plantarray load cells lysimeters accuracy and consistency standards.
Yes. The control software allows you to divide your system array into as many experiments as you wish as long as each pot is participating only in one experiment at a time.
The minimum order quantity is 12 units.
There are no limitations to the system size (up to thousands of load cells lysimeters units).
The system is highly accurate, (see Technical Data Sheet) for more details. The sampling rate is flexible and can be a priory determined in an easy manner by the operating software by the user as required.
The weight accuracy level of our 12 kg load cell is ±2 g. The temperature effect on weight is 2 g for a 10 degree Celsius difference.
In addition to the load cell lysimeter, each controller unit has 3 digital (SDI-12) and one analog output to which additional sensors that meet these communication standards can be connected. The system automatically recognizes a variety of soil and atmosphere sensors (see Technical Data Sheet). As we manufacture both the controller hardware, firmware, and software; we can help you to adapt additional analog or digital probes to our system.
The Plantarray sets come in two sizes: small unit suitable for 12 - 16 cm (4.7 - 6.3 in) bottom pot diameter (fit for 1.5 – 8 L pots) and large unit suitable for 27 - 31 cm (10.6 - 12.2) bottom pot diameter (fit for 10 – 40 L pots). Thanks to our special designed sealing rings, you can fit a large variety of commercial pots to our system. As for the weight load, we can supply the load cells transducer up to 100kg.
Yes, it is very easy as each controller unit is serially connected to its neighbors (no distance limitation).
Yes, the units are interconnecting. A single malfunctioning unit will not interfere with the rest of the system operation.
All soil and growing media can be used in the Plantarray system. Its performance is independent of the soil/growing media that fill the pots.
The watering system homogenizes water distribution (in particular laterally) using a four point sources dripper. Our pot container and irrigation system enable good drainage and salinity wash. In order to prevent evaporation each pot soil is covered.
Yes, normalization to whole-plant biomass as well as to atmospheric conditions are available.
Yes, the operating software provides a real-time data analysis that is helpful in optimizing your treatments and regulating the experiment
